18 detained from BNP rally, 6 members of police injured


 Police have arrested 18 people from a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) rally at the National Press Club. BNP leaders and activists hurled brickbats during the police beating. Police say at least eight of their members were injured. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station Mohammad Mamun Aur Rashid said this.

According to the BNP's Naya Paltan office, a press conference will be held on their behalf in the afternoon. There will be talk of detaining and injuring their leaders and workers.BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain was present as the chief guest at the rally. BNP central and metropolitan leaders addressed the rally. Pedestrian shops in and around the press club were closed before the rally
